Our Vision For Our Members

2023 is shaping up to be epic! Our commitee and senior members are commited to providing the highest levels of support for our rapidly growing member base by way of coaching and mentoring new members, providing and encouraging pilot progression for all members to ensure new skills and competencies can be acheived in house and to providing a fantastic new XC competion, the "Bakewell Summer Series" which will be all inclusive irrelevant of experience.

Our Commitee, Safety Officers and Coaching Mentors

Our commitee is made up of experienced pilots that are dedicated to moving the club forward and ensuring safety, compliance and mentorship are always put first. We meet regularly and encourage all of our members to attend and participate. Our in house Senior Safety Officers are some of the most experienced and best qualified in the country. This ensures that pilots of all levels are in good hands and have access to mentorship, supervision and in house pilot progression and qualification.

Our Amazing Members

Our membership has nearly tripled for 2023/24 as members old and new understand our comitment for this year in giving back to club members. New members will enjoy a freindly and social enviroment. An ideal atmosphere to relax and put all those new skills into practice. Visting pilot members are grateful for the local knowledge passed on to them that only highten their experience of flying from one of Australias best inland thermal flying sites, Mount Bakewell. CloudBase members enjoy direct access to our private online members lounge which contains a wealth of media and documents to ensure they have the very best coaching resources available to them with a click of the mouse. We encourage all of our members to use our facilities such as towing equipment and training made available to them. Happy little vegemites this lot....

About Us

Cloudbase Paragliding Club WA is Western Australia's largest paragliding club. A friendly, active and well structured club of paragliding enthusiasts dedicated to providing a fun, safe flying environment for all members old and new. The club is affiliated with SAFA (Sports Aviation Federation Australia) and operates within its regulations and expectations.

What can the club provide its members?

The club organises regular flying events, social gatherings, and trips to various flying sites across the state. We welcome pilots of all levels, from newly acquired PG2 to experts, and we offer support for progression, supervision and advice.
Some of the benefits of being a club member are the access to our towing service, which allows you to launch from flat fields and experience inland flying. The club owns a vehicle equipped with a winch and a tow rope, and we have qualified tow operators who can help you get airborne. We also have qualified safety officers who can help you obtain your next rating.
If you are interested in competing, the club created and hosts the Bakewell Summer Series. This is a fully sponsored HGPAWA/DLSCI event with a huge prize pool held over the summer flying season. Many of our members form groups to compete in National events including Australian Paragliding Nationals, XC Camp and State of Origins events held in Manilla, NSW. Dozens of us group up and head to Indonesia and Europe annually! These events are a great way to improve your skills, meet other pilots, and have fun.
Another way to enhance your flying abilities is to join our training and ground handling days, where you can practice your launch and landing techniques, learn new manoeuvres, and get feedback from experienced instructors and coaches. We also run club nights/days where we learn about meteorology, overseas trips and skills necessary to further your flying experience.
